If you’ve won the fight with acne, or lost the battle with the sun, chances are your skin shows the marks of those times. Our skin is resilient, but it does tend to hold onto reminders of things we’d rather forget. Those long hours baking in the sun with baby oil on our skin are painful to remember. And, even though you may have smooth skin, the dark spots from acne may linger on. Thankfully, laser skin resurfacing can help you get the smooth, clear look of your skin back. Keep reading to learn about Fractora, which takes a different approach from what you may be familiar with.

What Is Fractora?

Fractora is fractional skin resurfacing, but doesn’t use laser energy. Instead, radiofrequency energy is delivered into the dermis, the skin’s second layer. The Fractora handpiece contains delicate pins, similar to what you may experience with microneedling. These tiny pins create microscopic channels through the epidermis. As the needles penetrate the epidermis, each one delivers bipolar radiofrequency energy directly into the dermis. This leaves you with amazing results!

What can it treat?

Fractora is effective on a wide range of skin problems that include:

  • Fine lines
  • Uneven pigmentation
  • Broken blood vessels
  • Areas of redness
  • Deep lines
  • Texture issues
  • Acne scars

Who is a good candidate?

Skin resurfacing with Fractora has much shorter recovery time when compared to a sometimes rather lengthy period of redness that can come with other fractional laser resurfacing methods. By using RF energy instead of laser energy, Fractora doesn’t cause issues with hyperpigmentation. That means it’s much better suited for patients with darker skin tones. Fractora can be used on more sensitive areas such as the eyelids and around the mouth, where a laser may not be able to go.
