Laser Hair Removal: What Should I Expect?
- Posted on: Dec 15 2018
The weather is cooling down but that doesn’t mean you don’t need to take care of yourself anymore! Here comes party season, hot-tub season, and cooler-weather trips. If you’re sick and tired of shaving your legs every day, or just ready to be done with the little peach fuzz on your lip, now is a great time to start your laser hair removal treatments. But, what should you expect before your first treatment? How should you prepare? Keep reading to learn about laser hair removal treatments.
We use the DiolazeXL device laser machine, which is tailored to hair removal and making it as gentle and pain-free as possible. This laser delivers a controlled amount of laser light to treat and remove unwanted hair on the body, and leave the surrounding area unharmed.
What can I expect during laser treatment?
The DiolazeXL device laser utilizes a small handheld piece to allow us better control when we direct the laser on your skin. Depending on the area being treated, your appointment could last a few minutes (for the little peach fuzz on your upper lip) or an hour (for a larger area like the legs or back). The larger the area, the more time it will take us to treat it with the laser.
How many treatment sessions will I need?
The condition of your skin and the area you want treated affect the number of treatments you will need. Hair removal typically requires multiple treatments, as different hairs grow in different cycles. Additionally, we recommend coming in for touch-up treatments, as no laser hair removal is completely permanent.
How do I prepare for treatment?
You may need to forgo tweezing, waxing, or electrolysis for around six weeks before your laser hair removal treatments. Avoid being in the sun and lying in tanning beds a few days before your treatment, which can lead to poor results or discomfort during your treatments.
