Upon graduation from residency program, she was named the Outstanding Laparoscopic Surgeon of her class by the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons (SLS) and received the Resident Achievement Award in laparoscopic procedures from the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists (AAGL). Dr. Datta was then accepted to an AAGL fellowship in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery at U.S. News & World Report ranked Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City with internationally renowned GYN laparoscopy pioneer Dr. Farr Nezhat. This was one of just 13 AAGL programs in the US at the time for this type of advanced training and technology.
Dr. Datta first worked at the St. Luke’s – Roosevelt Medical Center (now Mount Sinai West Hospital) where she served as Assistant Director of the Division of Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery. She then moved on to a specialized GYN private practice in Manhattan focused on complex women’s health issues with a focus on pelvic pain. She performed all surgery at Weill Cornell – NY Presbyterian Hospital, ranked #1 in New York City for the past 17 years by U.S. News & World Report. Her work in private practice gave her extensive experience with vulvar, vaginal and pelvic floor disorders which can alter the appearance of the genitalia as well as cause vulvovaginal, urinary, and sexual dysfunction. She gained valuable insight through close patient relationships into how female genital appearance and function can affect a woman’s overall health, daily routine, self image and intimate relationships. This experience has served as the impetus for her current focus on vaginal surgical cosmetic procedures and feminine rejuvenation with the incorporation of hormone treatment and pelvic floor physical therapy. In keeping with this model of combining treatment methods Dr. Datta also completed acupuncture training at Harvard University which she utilizes for hormone and cosmetic treatments.
Dr. Datta has authored several gynecologic surgical outcome studies presented at national conferences and published in peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Datta has been an invited reviewer for the International Journal of Gynecology and Obstetrics since 2011. Her current academic interest is to further contribute to the initial accumulating data on radiofrequency vaginal rejuvenation.
